Hey guys... I'm wanting to use an AE storage cell for bees, and I thought that throwing one into the Partition Editor and formatting it with one drone, one queen and one princess, plus setting the matching mode to "Fuzzy" would allow it to store all the bees no matter the breed. Turns out I was wrong; I can store the species I formatted into it on the cell, but none of the other species, which I thought was the point of 'fuzzy'? Is there a way to do this in the first place or will I have to manually preformat all my storage cells with the bee species we create over time?

You will probably have to preformat every time. I don't see an easy solution to your problem besides setting up a network just for your bees.

The point of fuzzy for bees is used with fuzzy export/import, although less commonly import. Applied Energistics interacts with bees based on species and NBT data. If I have 14 Imperial Drones with fast productivity, 3 with slow productivity, an imperial princess, and a forest princess, these will take up 4 slots in total. If the bee is NOT identical, it cannot be stored in a stack with other. If you'd like a more indepth explanation as to why this is this way, I can give it to you. :)

I would recommend setting up an apiarist chest and a storage bus set to higher priority, maybe 2 or 64 depending on your setup. Indexer's and Apiarist Chests can only store bees, and this gives you infinite storage of them.

Ahh, I see now... why 'less commonly import' though? I will probably go the apiarist's chest/indexer route with the storage bus, I have no shortage of quartz.

For the most part, the stuff you pull out of an apiary/alveary won't be specific. Most setups pull everything out at once and store into the system to be dealt with later.

ultimate solution for bee storage:
create basic AE network
connect indexer to it via storage bus
enjoy

I keep all my serums in a seperate ae network with a bunch of 1k drives (don't need multiples of each serum). As for the bees, I juice the drones and misplace the princesses until i remember I actually have an apiarist's chest.
