Perhaps I'm incorrect, but I seem to remember being able to travel intra-world by using linking books. Was this changed or perhaps you never could?

Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been asked already.

In the current version this is achieved by crafting a linkbook modifier and adding the intraworld linking option to an inserted linkbook.

It's been heavily implied by the author that the recipe is really a 'dummy' - It will probably get a more sensible (if not cheaper) recipe once the research mechanics and whatnot are laid out. For now, it's something more like a 'debug' tool.

It's not as though intraworld linking is hard to 'fake' though... just set up a 'library', or a 'nexus' in another dimension. That is, set up a stable age (or even the nether!), and put linking books to interesting places in the overworld in a central location. Then, link to the nexus whenever you want, and then go back to the overworld with whichever book you please.

Really, I can think of only one situation where this process doesn't work very well, and that involves crystal portals.

There's one other problem with a nexus vs direct intra-linking: Longer loading time. Having to load another age and then the original again. Intra-linking is simply faster.

Faster and less likely for me to cause my poor old puter to have a hissy fit with too many loaded dimensions and also somewhat less likely for the "already tesselating" bug to hit me.

Correct. You just have to keep creating blank descriptive books until you get it (or spawn in a notebook in creative mode).
