Update and current world question

I've only been playing my current FTB world on the mindcrack v7 pack for about a week, and I was wondering if the update to version 8 will change anything to where I would have to make a new world. Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I don't have much experience with this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should not require a new world.

That said, it is highly recommended to stick to the recommended version (V7), because there are still things that need to be fixed in the V8.

Well, strictly speaking vanilla 1.4.7 introduces quartz in the Nether. Then again, the uses for this quartz are essentially new redstone contraptions, most of which can be done in other ways, and cool building blocks.
