Torches on the bottom of the ocean?

This morning I found something weird when playing UHS (Ultra Hard Survival from ATLauncher). There were three torches on the bottom of the ocean floor. Despite being in the water they didn't pop off. Other then the torches everything else was normal. I also explored under the torches and couldn't find anything (and the torches were at level 18).

Any idea what could have caused these torches to generate? It is a single player world so they couldn't have been placed there by anyone else.

block update will cause them to pop off, as for where they came from;

From memory the villages, abandoned mineshafts and strongholds all create torches naturally in Minecraft, maybe it was a failed attempt when the game tried to create one of those. The fact that you found them underwater but not popping off means that they were generated with the terrain, so....who knows.
