Hello! I have been playing FTB Monster and am encountering a mineshaft (Very large mineshafts) Wherever I dig. It was nice at first but, at this point its just kind of annoying when you're trying to make a clean mining area.. Anywho, Is there a particular mod that could be effecting this? o.O

Not sure why this should be specific to Monster, but the incidences of abandoned mines and other structures in worldgen was increased in the vanilla worldgen changes, I think back in 1.5(?)

If it gets incredibly annoying and you want to start over, a new world with "generate structures" turned off would put a stop to it.

Beyond that, not sure. Maybe something in the config for roguelike dungeons or something?

I was thinking roguelike too but everything I've seen is just the temple like ones on the surface. I'd rather not sacrifice villages, but if I gotta =/ I was playing on 1.7.2 and 1.6.4 without mods and I found like one, But now its like there is one infinite mine spawning forever across about 25-40, just all over the place, it's a mess of wood and spider spawners.

Roguelike dungeons start on the surface but they are multilayered and go all the way down to level 10. I occasionally dig into the nether layer they have at the bottom while branch mining.

As for this all-encompassing mine, it could be a random conglomeration of a couple of mines and not a symptom of an overactive worldgen.

Either way, it's best to just quarry it out from above :)

Are you using BoP? Because I'm thinking that the variety of biomes might be a cause of the number of mineshafts. IE each biome has it's own chance of generating a mineshaft, so the more biomes in an area, the more chances of mineshafts. I know I encountered far fewer when I switched to Highlands or even vanilla.

I am running off a server from CreeperHost, when I generated the world it was set to "Default" Im pretty sure BoP nor Highlands is active, unless "Default" doesn't mean vanilla. I didn't even think of that though x_x;;

How many dozen of mineshaft you found ? Typicaly even if vanilla, I find one mineshaft out of 3 games just in my main mining area. Statisticaly, this mean there is 1 chance out of about 81 that you find 4 distinct mineshafts in the first 4 hole you dig. It still quite a common odd.

I don't know of any mods that increase that.

Unfortunately, structure generation is just like that. The best way to solve this problem would be to use a BC filler, or an Ender quarry, mine once, then twice with the radius a bit smaller. That will give you an area which walls are complete.
