Thermionic Fabricator Gears Bug?

Not sure if this is a FTB pack, Forestry, or User bug,
but I'm unable to use the golden/any gear recipe with my Thermionic Fabricator.

Is this recipe still valid? Is anyone able to make it work?

-yes, I can get tubes to work
-yes, I have plenty of power, the red line goes to the top well past the heat indicator.
-yes, there is a gear wax mold in the top right box

The gold bar fails to melt where the glass usually is.

Gear casts is (or was) apparently something added by ExtraBees.

Is there still a liquid in it's reservoir? is the iron gear in it's inventory?

The metal never melts. I tried it in creative and the metal does indeed melt, but the recipe requires 4 ingots of gold to upgrade an iron gear. The same as not burning energy with the Therm. Fab.
Chalk this up to an unimplemented recipe.

Tried it last night and got the same result as you : metal never melts. I tried iron and gold. Neither melted, and I made sure the item IDs matched exactly the NEI recipe. Sand melts like a champ, though. I'd say it's a bug.
