Summary of the problem thermal expansion energy cube

What is the bug? client crashes when an thermal expansion energy cube is placed on sandstone

i can't try it because the game would be to slow to play then
 
I couldn't reproduce this - I take it you mean the Energy Cell from Thermal Expansion.

I tried all tiers of the block - placed on sandstone, and no issues.

Try remove the sandstone block you're placing it on and replace that with a new sandstone - and see if you still have the issue.

Otherwise I would say that most likely this is a issue with Optifine - and as the pack doesn't come with that mod - this isn't a bug with the pack.
 
As @grandrolf rightly stated we don't offer support for those using Optifine. I understand that this is causing you an issue though as you are unable to play without it. I will see about looking into it further however at this time it's not a priority.
