The saws in the Monster Modpack

How come I can't craft the different tiered saws from the Forge Microblocks mod? The Iron Saw recipe calls for 5 sticks surrounding the top of an iron ingot... However when I go to craft it, it makes nothing... What is going on?
 
IIRC, two or three of those sticks have to be stone rods. Or at least it's that way with some of the Project Red saws.
