For me, ticking off Threaded Optimization cleared up the lag. I hope Rei's gets an update to fix the lag issue some people are having. I can play MC without it anymore lol

Yeah same here, I've been flying around today trying to find some (cool/tall) RP2 volcanoes (which took me ~22000 blocks of flying...) and it seemed a lot less laggy than yesterday.
 
I paused the game for 10 minutes and came back and had a bit of lag. Was thinking time to stop and restart, but after a couple seconds the lag stopped and game went back to normal.

I know lol. Exploring just isn't the same without waypoints.
