Alright so at this point in the DW20 pack I have a gravi-suit, traversed Twilight Forest, made Quarries, RP2 Tunnel Bore, etc etc. While I havn't touched Steves Carts yet. I have one Vanilla based objective I have yet to achieve. Mainly because there is just so much to do with Mods that I've kinda forgot about all the vanilla goodies... Anyways I have never found a stronghold or been to The End.

I feel like a noob for admitting it and granted probably am, but it is just something that never really occurred to do until I decided to make a massive Mob Spawn building. Yes I know there are 3 in the overworld, yes I know that Eye of Ender can lead me to the general area. but it has been a utter fail as i will follow the eye for 100m or so, then it would change direction leading me to assumingly one of the other 3 locations. Is there a quicker way to achieve this without cheating in the blocks?

TL:DR- do any of the mods have a form of finding The End any quicker than searching for a stronghold using eyes?

If it keeps changing directions theres a good chance you are above one, check to see if it flys down towards the ground.

The other possibility is, and someone else might know more about this than me, but I read something about endereyes leading you to the wrong place if you have moved your world from Beta to another pack. Again hopefully someone else can give you some infomation on this if that is the case.

I think it finds it based off the seed, so if you change your world-gen, your screwed. But I don't think transferring between FTB packs would change that. It could be it's under you, try digging down :) And no, there isn't anything that helps detect strongholds as far as I'm aware.

You can use AMIDST. It doesn't work with modded Minecraft, so you'll have to use your world's seed (type /seed if you've forgotten what you used) and your vanilla Minecraft client, but it should still be pretty accurate for Strongholds and Villages. At the very least, it should get you pointed in the right direction.

I've never been to the end in SSP either... Been there in SMP after the dragon was killed, but yeah never bothered before.

I don't really bother with the End even in vanilla. There is no real reward to kill the dragon.

But as the strongholds spawn based on seed they should be in the same position as on vanilla client with that seed. So AMIDST should tell you the coordinates if you give it the seed and have your normal Minecraft on the same version as you created the world in. Eye of Ender should also do it, though, if you wanna do it legit.

In FTB, there are a few rewards for going to the end, in addition to what vanilla gives you, namely endless supply of ender pearls.

First, you can fill a soul shard very fast in there.

Second, there are specific ores in the End, for Greg Tech at least, and those are extremely valuable.
There are more on small floating island than on the "main" land though, so you need a real way to fly long distances.

Third, if you are into bees, there are the end bees there, and the egg is used as their flower.

Fourth, Greg Tech has a way to generate EU from things in the end, but I am not sure what is required for that, so you will have to search for yourself.

So, yeah, there are reasons, but if you don't need ender pearls, don't have greg tech, and don't want to bother with bees, you really don't have reasons for going, I guess.

(Oh, and please don't craft the "plank of Sengir", it's meant to be a joke between Sengir and Greg)

VintageBeef ran into that recipe when he was looking up something. He was like "Smite TEN, I guess that's good for killing the Wither except that you have to kill 8 Withers first".

NEI is a mod, and can indeed be used to cheat. But the vanilla command of /give is the same, in that respect.

If you want to play the normal way, you usually won't cheat items in, just because it's cheating.
But for testing purpose, NEI is way better than creative for giving items.
