Hoping to understand if this is a bug or a problem with what I am doing.

Basically, I am attempting to create some animation cores. I placed the bricks and nitor in the altar (enough for 4 cores). Then I put some rubber in the cauldron (it has even numbers of the aspects needed which makes a nice zero flux recipe). At first all I could get was only one aspect showing up as filled on the altar (imperito -sp?). The other (motus? - if forget) was still ghosted, even though I had the right amounts of each in the cauldron.

I thought it was taking extra from warded jars, so i removed the imperito jar and took it to my house. When I started again, the only sources were from the items I put into the cauldron. Still got only imperito, but no motus in the altar.

Thought it might be a glitch with the altar and so I broke and rebuilt the altar. Same problem. Tried shutting down the game and restarting... this time none of the apsects were showing up in the altar. Both required items remained ghosted no matter how much I put in the cauldron.

At this point I noticed there were no animations of aspects flowing through the air from the cauldron into the altar which led me to believe that the cauldron might be glitched. I tried emptying all the flux alembics and cauldron, broke everything down and reinstalled my whole set-up. Put back the cauldron, installed the alembics and began again. Still got the same result of no aspects going into the altar.

I'm beginning to think it is a bug. Has anyone run into this problem before? Is it just a glitch that I can fix by doing something differently or is this a bug I need to report? Help, please all you wise Thaumcraft experts!

Did you put your wand in the altar? If there isn't a wand in it, you'll get ghosted aspects and no particle effects.

Came back later to have another go at it and discovered exactly that. I had forgotten to replace the wand after rebuilding the altar. Derp-diddy-derp-derp! But thanks for your reply. Let it stand for the sake of any other poor soul who tries hard, but misses those tiny details that can make the difference between a functional mod and a frustrating mad. ;)

Only reason I know is because I did exactly the same thing. From various LPs I've seen, I'd say it's a pretty common problem.
