Title Sudden FPS drops with a decent computer

Details of the issue Hey tech support,
Unfortunately let me start with saying that my problem never provides a log only an error message when it crashes. the error is as following: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Payload may not be larger than 32k. note this is on SMP
We started a server with this modpack several days ago and everything went fine. i capped my fps at 60 with vertical sync enabled because there is no need to overburden my graphics card. but when i found the spot where i wanted to build (a sky island around 200Y above an deep ocean biome) my fps suddenly starting dropping to 1. this can take anywhere between 10 seconds and 30 seconds.
furthermore i disclosed the issue being my computer since i tested it on a laptop with a GTX1070 and 6700HQ and a GTX980TI desktop with an 6700k. when i log on my girlfriends account everything is fine no fps drops(note she is not in the same area) but when i log in the fps starts dropping. is this a corrupted chunk or what am i dealing with. according to my search results on the error it had something to do with the hats addon? please reply. kind regards itsurugi
