I am hosting a Mindcrack server from my desktop pc.
I can connect to the server using 'localhost' without any problems.
However, if I use another computer on the same lan I can't connect no matter what I try. :(

My friends and family have no problem connecting to the server from their houses.
I've tried everything I can think of.

Can you ping your "server" "from your other pc?
For example:
Code:
ping 192.168.1.102
(offcourse replace the 192.168.1.102 with the ip of your "server"")

Thats normal. Whatsmyip.com gives your external (Internet IPadres). You need the IPadres of the pc.
This can be checked if you open a commandpromt (Start -> Run and type in ""cmd" without the quoutes offcourse)
In the commandprompt type in "ipconfig /all" again without the quotes.

Can you post the info from that (from both computers)?

now try pinging your host from your laptop
Code:
ping 192.168.0.54
Pinging 192.168.0.54 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.0.39: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.39: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.39: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.39: Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.54:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 <0% loss>,

Whoa thats not good as you prob figured out yourself. Your laptop can't ping your host. That explains atleast why you can't connect.
Anti-virus / anti-malware or an firewall can prevent computers communicating with eachother.

The firewall that is disabled is that on your host or also on your laptop?
What OS is your laptop running?

Uhm, the host computer has W7 ultimate and the laptop is running on W7 home premium. Both of them have firewall disabled and they both have no anti-virus :/

Do you have your IP-adresses entererd manual or do the computers get them by DHCP?
Also can you post the follwing (this is the info shown by the ipconfig /all command)
IP-adres
Subnetmask
Gateway
DNSServers
for both systems?

Both of them have preferred ip address

that is exactly how it should be, in the windows explorer can you there see the other pc?.
by the looks does you laptop use DHCP since he had .39 before, wich aint a problem since the netmask and gateway+dns are good.
i have the feeling something in your router (192.168.0.1) is stopping the pings over lan and prob also the connecting to the server.

Each computer can only see themselves on the network, there are other devices connected to the network also so its not just each other that they can't see.
I'm not sure what DHCP is

Something is blocking your networkaccess, either a firewall on your laptop or a firewall in an anti-virus softwarepack or in the router (although the last one is really slim).

To answer your last couple questions which I already answered in previous posts...
The server is running Windows 7 Professional edition and the laptop is running windows 7 home premium edition
Both the server and the laptop have no wirewall or anti virus software AT ALL.

I have fixed the issue that was stopping anyone from connecting to the network for the last few days but I am still having the same problem that I am trying to solve.
If another computer wants to connect to the server I am hosting, they can not be connected to the same network.
I went to my neighbors and used their internet and I was able to connect to the server fine, but that is not a proper solution to the problem.

SORRY this is taking so long to figure out, thanks heaps for all the help so far - please keep it up, im sure we will figure out the root of the problem eventually :)

It may help to know what you did to let other people connect again. I'm no networking expert (In fact thats the one part of computer science I don't like. :p), but like nessiroj said it may be your routers internal firewall blocking you, make sure port 25565 is forwarded (Though this shouldn't effect internal connections) also see if your router has a built in firewall of sorts, if you type in your IP (Then one you get from whatsmyIP) in your browser it will take you to your routers setup page there is where you can portforward and see if there is any firewalls or blocked IPs in any of the settings there. Last thing I would try if all else fails is a router DNS flush. If you don't know how just Google "How to flush my "Router brand and model"s DNS.
