Problem Strange blocks of land everywhere....

Hey guys,
So on my FTB Monster world, i noticed these large blocks of land everywhere. I don't recall them being there for that long.....but i was just wondering if anyone knew what happened or if it is some kind of glitch? I don't want to have to start a fresh world but if i have to then that's ok i guess.
