As the topic says, the railer addon from steve's carts does not accept wooden tracks, only metal ones. Since metal tracks are hell to make this is a pretty big deal.

Anyone knows if this is changeable, configwise? Like adding some item ID to the list of items accepted by the railer? Thanks a lot for any help!

I'm not sure why you consider the wooden tracks easier to make because correct me if I'm wrong but from the recipes it looks as though it takes more creosote oil to make the wooden ones than the normal ones with normal ones costing more iron and creosote being the harder thing to acquire.

However to answer your question that I know of no there is no option to add new tracks to the railer though remember Steve's carts 2 is still in alpha and something may be added in the future and if you look on the wiki for the site what you want to happen is listed as something that will probably come in the future but is not currently a priority for the mod.

Well, I have a pretty nice setup of 16 coke ovens for giving me charcoal and they've been running for quite some time now so I have pretty much unlimited creosote oil. :)

Goshdarnit. Perhaps it will be added.

Another bug I noted is that it treats bauxite ore (i run mindcrack) as un-trackable and just turns around when it meets it. Very well, my plan for a massive cart mining system replacing quarries/miners will apparently fail. They're just too unreliable and too much work.

Not really used greg tech before but not sure why it would be unable to place on top of bauxite maybe just a but or something also if you want to replace quarries try building a big TBM its basically the fastest way to mine ATM.

While I think the tunnel bores look insanely cool myself and do frequently enjoy riding on mine and mining out the walls of the cavern it digs if you want style you could probably try learning lua and programing a turtle army to mine for you or aternatively program a turtle to lay the tracks for your mining cart.

Yeah I've been looking into computercraft a bit now. It seems like a pretty good option, clearly _stronger_ than buildcraft if using one of the published programs, but I'm not sure if cooler. A turtle army is pretty cool, but I'm thinking about how to program them to dig something in a cool shape. I'm thinking of maybe making turtles that dig a huge tunnel that isn't square but circular (a diameter of 9 or so blocks), with one turtle coming in behind them to build a bridge to walk on through it. I wonder how turtles interact with lava, though.

Turtles just plow through lava pretty well only thing that really phases them is if you dont write your program properly you can get stuck on sand/gravel.

Yeah, currently I'm using a program from the CC boards by someone, it's really effective - noticeably faster than a quarry on three electricals (which I normally use), less setup and less resource draining and doesn't leave the landscape AS mutilated (still pretty ugly though). Gonna have to start programming my own soon, definitely going to check their code for it.

I'm having a hellva time trying to figure which steel is needed for the tracks.
