Sound based lag

So I am encountering some strange lag in certain parts of my server, I've heard that it is a problem with the game rendering sound, and turning off my sound DOES get rid of it. Anyone know how to fix this?

I know that you can update the sound files with a newer version, but I never remember the name of the sound system used, so usually don't do it.

I second the question on where to find the newer files.

You could get the Extra Utilities Mod - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1776056-152forge-extra-utilities-v022/

It has a 'Sound Muffler' that ''decreases any sound made in a 8 block radius by 90%.'' You could put it above a farm, or anything else that's making a loud amount of sound. This may help with the sound lag

P.S Its still a WIP Mod so if its buggy, go report it.

It's the lwjgl files found in minecraft\bin

I've tried updating in the past, and had worse sound, with constant static noise.

I tend to get the sound based lag around laval, lots of mobs, and rain. Two of those situations are the worse time to have lag. But, it's random. I think the newer versions of minecraft will be updating/using the new version of those files in that bin folder.

Rain causes stutter for me, but only if I'm close enough to the surface.
