Yes, I shouldn't have deleted the last thread on this, but how was I to know I would have more problems?

Anyway, here's the problem: I have a T5 wither skelly soul shard, powering a single 36hp boiler. I was told that a single soul shard could run multiple boilers, but at the minute it can't even run one. Now, I know it needs a ton of fuel for the heatup phase, but I just counted the mobs falling and its a lot less than the 6 mobs/2 seconds i'm supposed to get? Did they recently nerf soul shards? Or am I just doing something wrong?

How big of an area to you have around the spawner? If it's not big enough I believe it slows the spawn rate considerably.

Give them more vertical height, spawners slow down if there are too many mobs within range of the spawner.

Its 9x9 with the spawner in the very middle - big enough I think. However I just destroyed the roof and sure enough the number spawning shot up - now I can get this boiler going!

However, this just highlighted another problem: spawn rates are still reduced as they attempt to spawn within the spawner itself. Its not a massive issue, i'm still getting about 5.5 mobs each time on average. But the fact that its reduced at all is annoying. Is there a way around it?

Try giving it a greater drop, like double the height, that way they are further from the spawner when they drop. Try 9x9x14 or larger.

Its currently 9x9x24, the skellies are nowhere near the spawner when the next lot spawns. I'm making it 11x11x24 as some of them are landing on the semi-destroyed walls.
