I started a 1.5.2 v0.8 NGT game, with the following seed: 6826262532174507421

And I was surprised at why the world was so dark at first, then I started drowning.

It's all ocean. Just thought I'd share that with you folk.
 
It happens in minecraft in general. Sometimes you spawn in an ocean. Just try another world, it's not uncommon for that to happen.
