Skyfactory 3 time loops? (Not saving progress)

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Skyfactory 3 time loops? (Not saving progress)

Launcher Type Twitch Desktop App

Modpack Skyfactory 3

Modpack version 3.0.13

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file

Details of the issue So I have a private server that so far is just my boyfriend and I. It was working great for a while.

The first problem I noticed was my mob farm slowing down (Went from getting loot bags like crazy to getting almost nothing for hours at a time). After I closed the server down that time and started it back up, the server had gone back in time. Everything I'd done was back quite a while.

It does this every time now. And it doesn't go back to the same point, but what I assume is a previous backup.

Crashes I can usually find the fix to, but the server doesn't crash in this time. It just...doesn't save progress, I guess.

I had to reinstall windows recently (thank you windows update) and the server seemed to be okay for a bit after that but I'm not certain. Had to reinstall programs but the files were kept. Don't know if that could be part of the issue.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, because I've never had a Minecraft problem I couldn't just fix with a quick Google search!

Please answer the questions below:

is this run from a downloaded server.zip-file, or "open-to-lan" feature on the client?

If server.zip-file, where is it located on the computer (give folder location)
How do you start and stop the server?
Do you have enough disk space?
Do you have any antivirus software running on that machine?

Also share a log would help.

If server.zip-file, take the /logs/fml-server-latest.log

If lan on client, check for instructions here:

It was a server zip file. Downloaded the pack from the FTB site.

I start it up from the ServerStart batch file. I stop it by closing the command window. (Is there a better way? That's how I've always done it lol.)

Disk space? Yeah I should. ....Or not? How did I get to having only 18G free. I'll see about clearing that out and retrying, but I'll finish this post just in case.

I do have avast running, but I've always had that. Then again something could've changed when I had to reinstall. I also realize I was running a scan while playing which I'm hoping was one of the less stupid things I've done, at least.

Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get the log here. When I go to upload file, they're not visible in the folder, even though it says show all files. Tried dragging and dropping but it said it was an unsupported format.

Edit: Wow, okay, so my server folder has somehow become a storage glutton and is 796 GB. Apparently backups are huge. That is unfortunate. Guess I'll start deleting some of those. Didn't realize that was a thing.

And don't just close the command window. Instead type in the word stop into it. That saves your progress and closes down the server properly. By just closing the window there are still parts of your world that is only in the computer's memory and haven't been saved to disk yet.

Good to know! I've had other servers that saved when I closed it down, but that may have been with the gui option.
Just tested it out for a while, and the server seems to be doing okay. Hopefully will continue. Thanks!
