I have two Diamond Chickens, into two different areas. One is in my breeding/growing to 10/10/10 area and the other is in my Chicken resource farm area. The Chickens in the farm area have a Next Drop that goes down by about a real second like normal, including the Diamond Chicken in this area. However, the one at the breeding seems to go down about 6-6 seconds in the Next Drop every real second. Every type of Chicken that I have put in the breeder spot located 2 blocks next to the growth area do about the same thing, but some at about 3-4 seconds per real second. I'm just curious as to why one the Chickens put in this area do this. If I move one Chicken from the farm to the breeder spot the Next Drop goes down a lot faster, and if I move it back it's a lot slower (being about 1 real second). I want to know why this spot is so good so that maybe I can speed up the other chickens and gain resources at a tremendously faster rate. In the time it's taken to write this the farm has generated about 16 diamonds while the special one has generated 10 stacks. They're located in different chunks. All claimed and chunkloaded. The breeder area is under my crop farm for wheat which does have growth crystals, but removal of them doesn't slow down the rate of the chickens at all. This may be my starting spawn chunk, if that matters. Can't seem to find info on this, but maybe I didn't look hard enough. This area definitely makes breeding and growing to 10/10/10 very, very, very easy.

Edit: Adding other Nests to this area does nothing. They don't follow the behavior of the breeder and growing nests. Even one directly adjacent does nothing. Same direction, different direction, same chicken type, different, doesn't mattter. 1 second per real sexpnd except for the two breeder nests and the one grower nest.

Wow, I guess I figured it out. The large difference was that one the breeder and grower nests had "flattransfernode 0"s on the bottom that feed into a chest (CTRL + Right click on chest while above Nest to make the chest suck it out from Nest), while the farm chickens have regular transfer nodes to collect resources. Testing it out with new diamond chickens in different locations showed me that the area didn't matter. Until I added the flattransfernode 0 to the bottom and used an animal net to take out and put the chicken back into nest, the rate was 1 second per real second. Now it's about 2-3. Still figuring out how to make it faster (6-7 like grower). Testing out keeping the chicken out of nest longer, and taking the chicken out and replacing over and over.

Edit: it may just be that placing chickens many times into a nest make it speed up, without the flattransfernode. Holding down right click on a nest for about half a minute yieled me with 30 seconds per real second on Next Drop.
