Is there a known issue with using distant signals when the signals they are replicating lay across a chunk border? It seems my really long distance signals have a tendency to not work properly.

I have a station where I use distant signals to monitor the progress of trains across my network. The ones nearby work without a problem, but the distant ones not so much. They sometimes get stuck in Yellow or red regardless of the actual status.

This is on my local server, no external connections, just running on my home box.

Maybe a silly question, but are those distant signals chunk loaded?

Honestly, I 'm not sure. I'm on my local machine , not a public server so I didn't think I needed chunk loaders. Is there a way to check ?

Ok, so I added a chunk loader to the cart ( Steve's Carts 2 ) , added chunk loaders at the distant signals .. and it improved the signal passing but now the cart does not behave properly!

Unless I am there to watch the cart at the distant station, it never makes the loop and returns to the local station. Also noted that since adding the chunk loaders the signals tend to not change. I watched a cart go past a green signal , and it remained green after the cart passed instead of turning yellow. Also have seen signals red when they should be yellow.

The best I can guess is that there is a hard limit for the distance signals will work , even with chunk loaders. This includes using the relays to send aspects to remote signals.

UPDATE : Looks like I just needed to lay down a series of chunk loaders along the rail line to keep things rolling. 90% fixed.
