My friends and I had a dedicated server set up with some of the old direwolf20 packs for about a year or two, running:
- Windows 7 64-bit
- 4 GB of RAM
- 64-bit Java
- 2.4 Ghz dual core
However, we would get lag, such as blocks reappearing after being broken, with only 4 people on and could never figure out the problem.
Now we have a new server running direwolf20 1.7.10 on:
- Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit
- 64-bit Java
- 2.8 Ghz quad core
- 4 GB RAM (3 GB allocated to Java with shell file arguments and java console)
- 20 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up ISP connection
Now it is lagging really bad (10+ seconds for a broken block to actually disappear and pick up material) with only myself logged in over a LAN connection (client and server are on different computers).
Any thoughts/suggestions on where this lag could be coming from or how to fix it? I've seen some posts mentioning average ticks, which with nobody logged on is about 30-50 ms.
If you need any more information please just let me know, and thank you.
