Server lags but not comp?

Hello, I'm running a FTB unleashed 1.1.7 server for my friends and I, and at times when tons of chunks are being loaded, the server window's "avg tick" goes through the roof, but cpu usage is still only 40% or so, and the server is only using about 1.5gb of ram, (I have 20gb assigned to it).

IE: Earlier, 4 people were going in and out of the twilight forest, and the "Avg tick" went from the normal 10-25 MS to 50-100ms. (7 people were online)

It almost seems like it's the java window+server lagging, and not my PC, because everything else is still running perfectly fine.

Is this just my net not being able to keep up with uploading all the chunks to everyone?




System specs:

Intel i7 3930k CPU

32gb 1866mhz ram

2 Gtx 780 in SLI


Internet speed: 60mbps down 12 mbps up

No, it sounds more like a problem that you have a connection prone to packet loss. Is it connected via wifi or ethernet?

@NEXUS2345 the Ethernet, and my net has always been stable and great, the only time I ever have issues with it is if we don't pay the bill XD


I guess it's just me not having fast enough net to keep up with everything then, I may see about getting verizon fiios
