I'm looking into server hosts such as creeperhost, but I'm not sure what to get. The server will likely only be for me and a friend or two but how much dedicated RAM would be a good amount?

As said in many other posts about this, anything below 1gb ram on a server is generally a bad idea.
You can have as little as 500mb, but it's not recommended.
