Server Hosting

I hope this is in the right sectiobn, but I've been looking for a host to run a small FTB unleased server for at max around 10 people. I've run servers before, but am now looking into what the best deal and service I can get is. Does anyone have any advice on how much ram, which hosts, and anything else I should look for to make sure I dont waste my time or money?

Currently looking at Creeperhost, either the 1, 2 or 3 gb options. any opinions?

honestly I wouldn't touch creeper host even if they were paying you, I was with them and lets just say that any company that charges $10 a month for help then uses the solution of delete everything and restart every single time you ask them about an issue you are having, should never be used, let alone one that is notoriously well known for delivering sub par performance from their entire range of servers. Creeper host tend to make all their money off of new server owners who have never run a server before so to them they seem amazing. My honest advice would be to look around some review sites, and choose one based on what you find. But i'll throw my referral link from astral gameservers if your interested

I would like to point out that Astral is reselling OVH hardware, nothing wrong with that. However, if the OP is competent with running a dedicated box they may as well skip the middle man and rent directly from OVH.

From personal experience running a server on my laptop (not ideal, I know), you don't need a ton of RAM (watching my memory usage, it never got much above 200-300mb with 4 people on). CPU is probably going to be the biggest thing (thought I don't have numbers on that)....

Wow that's just another server company "get rich quick" scheme. If you want actual customer service that isn't a stupid addon and response every time in under an hour (unless they're obviously doing something for you) then here may be the place http://clients.fragnet.net/aff.php?aff=51511. It's isn't the cheapest but in my opinion it's worth the extra bucks. Also they said that DDOS attacks are isolated to the server being attacked and shut it down for 12 to 24 hours so your server on the same machine won't be affected. 5 days money back grantee ensure you can get the idea before you actually flushed the money down the "toilet". So it's definitive worth checking.

I'm curious, about how many players can your server support with out lag issues?

well I got a 2GB which it's should run 5 players without lag and with the 3 I got the most the memory usage was going up the ladder so it's seem right.

I’ve read all your comment and reviews and that’s why I’ve been with Fragnet for the last 48h I was with fluctis and I had too much lag with no support so I switch here. First of all the cost are higher than elsewhere so I tough that the performance and support was amazing. Well it’s not I’ve write 6 ticket in the first 48h to help and bug and the only answer I get every time is reset your server and update your plugin. They don’t help at all they keep repeating this and I’ve put another ticket 4h ago no answer they just ignore me. This provider is well over rated. I had lag with fructis but at least my server never crash for no reason and not even an error from my console​

So please take care if they chose them you probably can find a cheaper server that will have a better support somewhere else keep searching​

odd.. I haven't have any crashing problems unless the server resources get used up and the CPU is going nuts or if I had added a mod that isn't SMP compatible. Although I don't use plugins cause the simple fact that they're are not very mod compatible. One time I had no idea on how to install Forge onto a server and they actually said how your supposed to do it. So have no idea how you got bad service when I'm still running like butter.
