[resolved] cannot mine gravel ores?

I put FTB Unleashed on my server last night for testing. I found some blocks I'd not seen before and found I was not able to mine them with anything I tried (a few picks - both vanilla and TC, and the mining drills). There were some other blocks nearby with the same texture and just different coloring. I was able to determine through NEI that these are the Gravel Ores from TC.

While I was able to break the block, it was like doing so with an incorrect tool - it took a long time, and nothing dropped. I just now read (on the Technic Pack wiki, as ours is sparse in this regard) that these require a shovel to mine - I had tried digging it with a stone shovel but found it to take just as long as using a pick so figured that wouldn't work either.

Can anyone verify for me that these blocks are functional in FTB Unleashed 1.1.1? If so, can you tell me what is necessary to mine/process them so I can inform my players? If they are broken, can anyone help me figure out how to exclude them from worldgen?

The tools work using spades from tinkersconstruct for me.

I had success once I made a shovel from iron. (TC shovel)

Gravel ores must be mined with a shovel, and like mining regular ores with a pick it must be a shovel made out of a good enough material to mine it (e.g. iron must be mined with at least stone, gold with iron, etc.) or a TC shovel with a high enough mining level.

I assume traditional shovels work, they do not need to be TC spades/mattocks?

Logic got away from me, and I figured you wouldn't need anything durable to break up gravel, after all.

I believe the traditional shovels should work, although I only have a TC steel shovel in my Unleashed world so I have not specifically tried it.

Yes, I've used normal non-TC shovels on the gravel ores and they have worked just fine for me.
