Problem Removing Individual Mods from a server.

Hey,

I'm running a FTB Ultimate server for a couple of friends, and I was wondering whether it was possible to remove individual mods?

I am considering removing Applied Energestics, however I am not sure whether I can do this safety. I remember back in the days when I ran a Tekkit server, I could delete EE2 by simply deleting the .zip file, it had no adverse effects on the server at all.

Is it possible to do the same with AE?
