I remember reading somewhere that you are able to send items through redpower tubes to a block, and the block can pump into BC pipes. Is this true and if so what is the block called.

I believe it is called the Buffer from tubestuff. You could also use a relay, rp tube into the side, eject into an obsidian pipe one block away

Lol, a chest would work too.

Ummm.. yeah.. as they said.. just a chest 
Then a wooden transport pipe with a redstone - combustion engine (depending of how fast you want it to work) or an autarchic gate
