I have a sorter sending to 3 colour lines, one of which (black) goes to another sorter. The first sorter wont send unsorted items to the black line. Is this a bug or is it fixable.

Are you using Black for both Unsorted items and Sorted items? That might be causing the trouble. Remove the items from the black sortation, so they get classed as unsorted, and sent down the black path.
Sorters will always first process items in the sorting grid before any unsorted items. So if you have a constant flow of items, those unsorted items will just build up until there's nothing else sorted.

Fixed in the end by stick a filter next to the ender chest and using that to feed the first sorter. I have used black twice, but the seccond sorter seperates the 2 pipelines. Its all sorted now, but cheers for the sugestions.
