Ram slider not working

OK idk if this has been asked before but search did not work for it.

I can not change the slider on my Ram higher that 1GB. Is there somethings that i am missing?

You have to use 64bit java, assuming you have a 64bit capable computer.
 
Running Windows 8 64Bit

Went over to Oracle and started downloading jdk-7u17 Maybe that will work? My internet is slow so it will be a bit before i can see if thats it, unless you can give me a link to something else.

That should work. You should uninstall other versions of java before you install that one though, just to be safe.
