Problem with LAN multiplayer

Details of the issue:
Have been playing FTB Infinity Evolved for a few months but been away for a few weeks. Now having problems with my daughter not being able to join a LAN multiplayer world if I set it up and vice versa. LAN world is visible but does not connect with error "java.net.connetËxception: Connection timed out: no further information: I have updated Java on both machines but no change.​
