**Fixed**
If you use wrench on the cable connecting to the machine you can switch the mode. Forced connection mode seems to do it =D
**Fixed Edit*
Further experimentation leads me to believe it isn't the forced connection mode that fixes it.
Steps:
#1 set up cable route
#2 place machine next/under/on top of cable
#3 Take a wrench and hit the white band on the cable leading to the machine - This will turn to an orange/red colour.
Hopefully this will work for anyone else having this issue.

Hi there. I feel a little bit silly.. but..
I've have a Passive reactor set up which is supplying me with lots of power, and so I have been using rednet energy cables to supply all my machines with power.
I've been running short on wood (heh, most basic thing ever) So I've gone ahead and set aside an area to make a tree farm.
The rednet energy cables have supplied power to the harvester and planter, but (I guess because they have a redstone current, maybe?) they stop the machines from working whenever they're hooked up.
Is there another way to take power from my reactor and supply these two machines with power?
