Overwolf Running in Background?

I've recently noticed that Overwolf launches at startup and is running in the background. It's only using ~55 mb of memory and 0-0.2% cpu, but i'm just wondering what it's doing and why. Anyone know why Overwolf runs in the background?

EDIT: it appears that "Overlay", "Overlay (32 bit)", and "Overwolf Browser" all also run in the background.
