Details of the issue Hello everyone,
My GF and I have a long-term Infinity Evolved server that we play on together. We only run the server when we're playing on it and shut it off afterwards until we're ready to play on it again. This includes the server software itself and the computer that it runs on.
This has worked great for the longest time. I don't quite remember when we first started this playthrough, but I'd say it's at least the better part of year, perhaps over a year. Either way, it's been a long time.
The changes we've made to the modpack are as follows: added the Morph mod from the get-go, so we can morph into any mobs we kill. Added MrCrayFish's Furniture mod not long after starting the server. We recently added Additional Buildcraft Objects for some extra factory blocks. We've added AnimalsPlus recently as well so that we have more animals to morph into. I think that's it? There may be other mods we've added that I'm just forgetting. We've added them really gradually over time.
However, a recent issue has suddenly appeared. I can connect to and play on the server with no problems. The computer it runs on is about 5-6 ft. away from me in my living room. It is separate from the computer I play on. I connect to it through my public-facing IP just like my GF. However, recently when my GF tries to play on it, it's extremely laggy for her. Her ping stays in the 3-4 bar range in the tab screen in-game, but she can't see me moving around, open chests or doors, taking damage is extremely delayed, etc. But I can see her doing all of these things in real time on my screen. On her end, the door she's clicking on doesn't open. But for me it does. I can see her moving around as she's doing it, opening chests, etc. all real time. But for her, the only thing that happens on her end is that she can walk around. But nothing else registers for her.
I'm at a loss trying to figure out what the issue is. This server has been working great for so long. The only things that have recently changed is that we started using a resource pack. Her computer isn't very strong, but I wouldn't think that would cause this issue. We haven't tested disabling the resource pack on her end yet. I've checked that the server computer wasn't struggling with resource usage or anything, and it hasn't been. The server has plenty of RAM dedicated to it with a minimum of 6GB and a maximum of 8GB. It has a total of 16GB. Looking at task manager shows that it's usually using around 4-5 GB. For all intents and purposes, the problem seems to be on her end, but when I investigate, but I can't find anything that would cause a problem for her there either. I just can't figure it out.
