OceanBlock Multiplayer Connecting issue

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Hi!

I've been having recurring issues with connecting to the world my Wife is hosting via LAN. There's times where we can play for an hour before I get kicked, other times I can't even connect to the world. There doesn't seem to be any patterns or anything particular we are both doing when the dis-connects happen.

Some things I've tried;
- Updated Java on both sides
- Had wife share the world and she attempts to connect to me (she has the same issues pop up)
- Backed-up world and re-installed FTB APP and OceanBlock
- Restarted game from both sides
- Made attempts to find answer via google

The following are my latest logs from my most recent attempt to connect;

https://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/0510d4ae - Debug Log

https://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/5fc66506 - Latest Log

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Firstly, thank you for adding logs with your post it makes things more efficient.

Please ensure your Java is actually updated, also ensuring the old versions are uninstalled if not needed. Your launcher is launching 1.8.0_51 the latest version of Java is 1.8.0_311. Once you have updated/uninstalled please post new logs if the issue still occurs.

Oooooo, didn't catch that. Thanks!

Removing all Java installs and making sure I'm only running 1.8.0_311.

I'll Update with results!

Hmm, these unfortunately still don't give me much. Thank you for giving both sets of logs because it seems like if I'm reading this correctly your wife's session isn't sending packets correctly. Could you try disabling Windows Firewall on her device, start the server then attempt to join.

I'm not sure how comfortable you are with computers, so, here are the steps if you don't know how.

Code:
Windows Key + R
Control firewall.cpl
Click OK
Click Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off on the left column
Click Turn off Windows Defender Firewall for both Private and Public

If this works we can create a more permanent solution this is just a test to see if this is the cause.

I've done enough IT to be dangerous, lol.

But still no dice. Turned of all possible firewalls on both computers and routers. Turned off all possible virus protections n such.
Also tried using the Minetogether mod built in with no luck. Also setup a port-forward and tried to direct connect with no luck.

Here's the logs if you want to take a look.

https://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/bc0eb2d5 - Wife's latest

I understand if there's not much more you can do, but any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello, just wanted to mention that me and my brothers are having the same issue. Been playing with me hosting for a few weeks and it worked great. This weekend, one of my brothers started having some crashes. He could log in again a few times and then couldn't anymore. Other brother was still in the game, without any issues. Today we started things up again and neither of them could get in. Log shows the same error on my side:
Latest log
debug - Also too long for pastebin, I included everything from where it started loading the world as far as I can see.

I don't use windows firewall, I have a different antivirus program. It has never been a problem before, and me and my brothers have spend many many hours playing different modpacks over the years ;)
Perhaps also relevant: I installed a clean instance of the pack, put our save in it, same problem. We tried connecting to a new world my brother made and hosted on his computer. We could all get in to that world, but couldn't break any blocks (pretty sure that was an unrelated problem though).

I'd love to know what we can do to fix it, we'd love to be able to play together again.

Hey ! funny enough my wife and I have had literally the same issue. I haven't done enough IT to be dangerous, but i do know my way around my own firewall and my home network i've set up.

sad news: i could not find a solution either, i scrounged forums for days and i found a post somewhere i cant remember that it is a minecraft issue, not anything we can do.

i pay 30$ a month for linode to just run an oceanblock server. i promise you the money is well worth im sure you can get the price down if you turn off the server since they charge by the hour. either way i hope you and your wife can play together soon !

This might be a stupid answer but did your brother add you guys to his team ? my wife had this issue until i added her to my FTB team through commands

We didn't try that, we've been a bit busy with other things over the holidays. Just yesterday we set up a creeperhost server so any one of us could just play on their own if they felt like it. We still need to try that with all of us, but I'm pretty sure we won't have any more problems.

Has anybody found a solution to this issue? It's killing me. takes 10+ attempt's to join my partner's LAN connection every time i try, and i try a lot because it kicks me or my game crashes often. i can eventually get through - i seem to get a little further each time until i'm eventually successful - but it's making the game borderline unplayable.
