Newb Question Re- Playing on Server with Edited FTB Pack

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I couldn't find it anywhere on the forums...

I know you can Edit the mods via the launcher interface to disable some that might help performance.

However, if I do that, can I still play on our server that requires FTB to play?

I mean.. I know I shouldn't delete core or jar mods, but what if I disable say, some kind of energy mod or something like that... will I still be able to play on a server that runs FTB?

By my knowledge the server reply's with 'You are missing these mods'. So to my knowledge, yes you can, but if your able to play I think not.

To play on a server, your client needs to have all of the same mods as the server (This excludes client-side mods like minimaps)

Ask the server owner if they've changed the mod set-up, and which mods you will need to play on their server.
