Some important items in ftb is glowstone and blaze rods. These items generally require alot of luck in your nether spawn. I think I got one of the luckiest spawns in my world within 10 blocks was a pillar to a nether fortress. Now I wan't to see some of your nether spawns lucky or unlucky (like direwolf's in season 5).[DOUBLEPOST=1357788600][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well played. My spawn is not as good but it is fairly decent itself. All I have from my spawn to the nearest fort is about 30 blocks across a lava lake. Just had to build me a little protected tube from my portal to the base of the fort.

I never found glowstone particularly rare, it's kind of everywhere and it's not used for so many things. With a jetpack it's also much less of a pain to harverst.

As far as fortresses go, my server seems to have one roughly every 300 blocks. Seriously, it's like fortress - lava lake - fortress - mountain - fortress. I have two tier 5 blaze shards and I don't know what to do with them.

Lost as always
As DW pointed out, a couple of Mystcraft Linking Books will go a very LONG way to solving problems with bad nether spawn areas. And hey, he's got not one but two nether fortresses very near his spawn. He got pretty lucky, to be honest. I remember one of Coestar's old episodes, he spawned onto a netherrack ledge and got it shot out from under him by a ghast... took a REALLY hot bath
