I just downloaded FTB and am completely lost on what to do next...XD I'd appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers on getting started. Thanks!

Are you having trouble launching one of the modpacks? Or are you looking for gameplay pointers?

This forum is for the first topic. The "General FTB Chat" forum is for the second topic.

Well, assuming you have a paid Minecraft account, it's not hard to get started with one of the FTB mod packs. Start the launcher, and create a new profile (along the bottom) using your Minecraft account's email and password.

Next, select the Direwolf20 1.6.4 mod pack and click "Launch". I'm picking that pack because Direwolf20 does a great job of explaining how to use different mods in his single player Let's Play series, so it's a good learning tool for true beginners. You can watch the series here:

He also explains how to properly download, install, and run his modpack so you have that going for you as well.

Okay, so the modpack successfully installed and I launched the game, but after a while both the client (which stops at the Mojang logo) and the command console disappear.

Every time I try to do it (I went into the options and set it to reopen after Minecraft closes) I get the message "Read Timed Out" in the console.

And what do I do after I post it to that pastebin website?

You can try Eyamaz's java arguments, but they don't always improve FPS, but it never hurts. Also, Optifine version D1 is now compatible with modpacks. :)

All the downloads I'm finding only give me the option of installing it to the main launcher. Is there a mod version I could download?
