Monster V1.1.1 java crash on startup, please help

When i go to launch monster i get this error:
Java Virtual Machine Launcher
A Java Exception has occurred.

Then the game just closes. The options were set to 2Gb of ram, i tried uping it anywhere to 2.25-10Gb with no luck. I was using java v1.7.x.x but updated it to current verion, debug info:
java version "1.8.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_25-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.25-b02, mixed mode)

Is there anyone else having this issue or know possibly how to fix it? I'm not sure if this is the correct thread but the tech support page is 'not there or private'
 
Java 1.8 does not support the -XX:MaxPermSize parameter to alter the allocated perm gen size. However it still apparently needs it for the larger FTB packs. As such, you need to run FTB using Java 1.7 - Java does support side-by-side installs of different minor versions.
 
I was having the issue with 1.7 which is why i updated. I can revert no problem but the issue was still being caused using 1.7
