Essentially everyone on my server agrees that the monsters we face are too easy, especially with all of the incredible weaponry we are able to acquire in ftb. Is there a mod that will make mobs harder or even increase spawn rate (I realize this is unlikely as it is probably restricted as to how many mobs can spawn naturally). If you have an idea as to how I can make my sever harder to survive that would be great.

A fun choice is Infernal Mobs. Well, "FUN" can be used to describe the typical result of playing Dwarf Fortress as well, aka losing. In this case, it is less of the traditional sort of fun and more DF style "FUN". Word of advice: Most of the abilities are annoying, but Webber can be useful if you need string, and Sticky is rage inducing. Even worse if sticky is on something with ghastly as well. Ghastly allows them to shoot fireballs like ghasts(except IIRC they are less damaging to the terrain) and set fires. Sticky allows the mob to occasionally take what you hit them with(well, you drop it), which isn't that bad usually, just annoying. Combined? You may lose a few swords per fight.

Special Mobs is also a good one. It adds in new variants of the traditional mobs, like the lightning creeper, strike enderman, plague zombie, and many others. And for the hell of it why not throw in Lava Monsters to scare people.

If you really want to freak out your players, add Void Monster by Reika. It adds a weird mob that can only spawn beneath bedrock layer. On the Overworld, it's not a big threat, since you'd be hard pressed to find a place where it could get past the bedrock layer at layer 1(or was it 0?). But anywhere else where one can find a hole in the bedrock? (Even the overworld if you find a way to break the final layer, actually)
Party Time for it.

But since this isn't too easy or likely outside of a single vanilla dimension known as The End, or countless world generation types based upon such mechanics, or places that plain ol' have holes in the bedrock like in UX's Deep Dark. But even so, just because it can't reach you, doesn't mean it won't be trying to talk to you. In whatever language they speak in the Void Between Realities.

Just change the server to Ultra Hardcore mode. You won't regenerate health naturally. This will force players to use vanilla healing mechanics like potions, golden apples, or beacons. It'll also force the use of mod items for healing, an area that's ignored with so many godmode armor choices.

Plus you won't have to add mods since it's part of vanilla 1.6.

The others mentioned are all good, but I have to put a mention out to Mekanism. Mekanism makes some mobs have some armour that espicially in the early game is hard to defeat.

otherwise known as Reika's and Jaded's attempt to destroy mankind. MF2 + Void Monster + Thaumic Tinkerer Pick = Death and Destruction, and you thought the fan made enderman were creepy enough
Pff, I can take 'em. And that's a Awakened Ichor Pick. They are creepy, sure. Fan Made Endermen are creepy? I'll take your word for it, since they just annoy me.

Infernal mobs and zombie awareness
Have fun...
That, plus Mekanism, on hard mode, along with mod to increase mob limits...

Alotofzombies.jpg

Needless to say, had to do some tweaking of settings to save both my sanity, and my FPS.

I have to say, I am very curious what this sounds like. I have a feeling that it would give most Minecraft players a panic attack.
