Hi guys, I'm currently playing on a local server with my friend running Monster 1.1.2 and we're running into a bit of trouble with our mob grinder setup. We built our base in a Rainbow Forest biome (using v23 of DyeTrees), so figured out that having a cursed earth spawner in our base wouldn't spawn anything other than Pechs. As such I setup a cursed earth spawner at our old base (Magical Forest biome) but we're facing quite a few problems.

First off, we chunk loaded a single chunk that has a plot of cursed earth, and used fans to push mobs into a mystcraft portal linked to the center of our killing room. We face 2 issues with this, the first being that if a player is not in the chunk with the cursed earth, or close enough, no mobs appear to spawn. I've read some stuff about cursed earth not working if the player is too far away, but have been unable to find anything specific for our version of ExtraUtilities. The second problem is that even if one of us is in the same chunk as the cursed earth, only about a fifth of the mobs passing through the portal actually teleport to the killing room. For every teleport, my friend can see a black puff of smoke (as if something was teleporting in), but no visible mob, no Mob Essence, and no loot is generated.

Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing these issues? This is my first time posting, so if I left something out let me know.

Thing is, the despawn isn't because of ExU, that's why you can't find data on it looking there. The despawn is a vanilla mechanic.

You can't get around that with chunkloading, and no known mod in 1.10 has modified mob code in minecraft to altar this.

Now, the puff of black smoke instead of teleport, that's a curious thing. I think you are looking at ExU's despawn effect there.

Now, for the best way to get around it? Dimensions. A dimension that is chunkloaded with nobody in it does not despawn the mobs, as long as it has been visited once in the server's uptime. Feel free to give it all kinds of horrible debuffs, your not going to spend time there, it'll keep the cost down.

Also, welcome to the forum, hope you always find everything you need.
