I'm not sure if this is FTB related. I got some quick help here yesterday so I figured I'd try it out again! I have a quad core, 8 gigs of ram, and a video card. Always ran fine, but has recently started lagging in Minecraft. Anyone have any tricks to get it to run better besides optifine? My cpu usage is between 70 and 100 in minecraft, don't know if that's normal, but doesn't sound it. I remember reading somewhere that someone changed their settings to allow more ram in Minecraft, but then there was a comment saying It was pointless. Would allowing minecraft more ram make it run better? I don't want to mess around with something like that unless I know it works.

I have quite a few world anchors out in the world, does that create more lag?

I also built this comp myself and I'm getting worried it may have something to do with they way I applied the thermal stuff to the processor...wasn't sure if I did that right. Don't know if this bit of info helps, but if I restart and hop right back into minecraft it works fine.

Any help would be awesome, thanks!

A lot of world anchors will definitely cause more lag. How many gigs of ram do you currently have allotted to Minecraft?

I have it default. I got rid of some of the world anchors I wasn't using anymore. Have you altered your ram settings? Just looking to get some input on if I should change it or not.

Well, I have 16 gigs of ram so mine is more flexible. Yes, I allotted 3 gigs to Minecraft instead of the default one. This is also because I use high res texture packs. If you have ram to spare, go for it. If you don't know how much you have to spare, (For Windows) press Control+Alt+Delete and then select Task Manager. After that a window will open and then in the bottom right hand corner you should see "Physical Memory: ##%" If you are using less than about 75%, Then you could try allotting more ram to Minecraft.

My physical is running at 43%. Maybe I'll give it a try. Thank you, I feel more comfortable messing with something like that. I'll look into it now!

1 whole day, no lag! :) Gave an extra gig and still running in the 40s. Thanks again man.
