Is it true that the microblocks allow light to pass through? i sort of have the feeling that they do, will they change that or do i only have that problem and am doing something wrong

They certainly behave differently lighting-wise and it doesn't surprise me. Working out whether or not a cluster of microblocks has a hole in it or not would be tricky, and Mojang's lighting engine is not written to do that calculation.

thats a redpower bug, not a vanilla one. Vanilla blocks work fine with lightning (most of the time)

Redpower has no control over lighting. A given block ID either lets light through, or it doesn't. All microblocks have the same ID, they have to, I guess that's the only way they can co-exist in the same space. So either all microblocks let light through, or all microblocks block light. Choose one, and it isn't a bug, it's a glitch at worst. Unless you want Eloraam to replace the entire lighting engine. And I guess Immibis's microblocks have exactly the same problem.

well, vanilla isn't thinking about if somebody will add microblocks or not, the engine works perfectly fine for vanilla stuff. They ain't going to change the engine to suit every single mod, they change it for vanilla blocks.

The lightning engine works perfectly fine in vanilla, mojang will not change just so a random person on the internet can have a nice house made out of microblocks with perfect lightning in a computer game, because for vanilla, it works fine.

Yes, we know that, no-one's saying that they should. It isn't a bug in vanilla, it isn't a bug in RedPower, it's just a shortcoming that no-one can do anything about, either ou live with the fact that microblocks are translucent, or hope that Eloraam or Immibis write their own replacement lighting engine which I think is... actually I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Eloraam did that, given the awesome stuff she's already done including her Minia project, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

eloraam, rewriting the whole lightning engine? OF COURSE! tomorrow morning is ready! not like she has other stuff to do anyway!

EDIT: also remember that dinnerbone was rewriting the engine himself, to do stuff like "if a torch is covered on all sides but one is a slab, from that side light will pass" and stuff like that, but had too much bugs and it was pushed to a later date.

Lighting works perfectly fine with microblocks

You can create a lava ceiling with microblocks bordering the edge, completely close it in, and the whole room will be lit up
