I was wondering if anyone has used them a bit yet?
I'm playing the direwolf pack in single player, and want to use thermal expansion processing with redpower powering it. I'm not sure i am using the windmill properly, because it seems to generate very little power or I am wiring stuff wrong, OR just that the bluetectric engines suck a shitton of power.

Basically was wondering if their is a trick to maximising the windmill power, i cant seem to get it cranked past 1/5th of it's meter. I know that raining can increase the power it produces/speed it moves, but do other biomes or height come into play also?

also just did a volt reading, 8 solar panels and the wind turbine are producing around 2400 watts, whilst 2 engines feeding off 7 batboxs are using around 5500 watts. Seems high!

*edit* I did have some wiring wrong, thought that laying cable over the batboxs was conecting them, and me removing stuff and re-laying was probibly reseting the windmill over and over, now it is at 1/3rd which is nice, probibly up to 2/3rds when raining. Redpower just gave me a joygasm :D

The Blulectric engines do use a ton of power. Not really ideal unless you have a HUGE RP power grid going.

What world height are they at? The higher int he world they are, the more power they generate

so after a good amount of time changing stuff around, i have met a happy medium.
I guess i was so used to IC2 set ups early on, where it was say 4 macerators & 4 E.furnaces with filters pulling stuff around, but just like IC2 wind power, redpower wind turbines can have huge variances in power ouput. The wind rating changes each morning.
So i focused more on solar panels (omg so much nikolite) with turbines to help out where they can. ALSO I realised that I made an error thinking i would need more than one blulectric engine... they really are monstrous power output.
Settled on 1 blulectric engine hooked up to 15 batboxs, 36 solar panels and 1 turbine. It feeds into redstone energy cell (i think its called? like an MFE for MJ/t) which feeds all the machines thru redstone energy conduits. Have an iron OR gate attached to the redstone energy cell to emit redstone signal to the engine when the cell isn't full, and the system works fine. it certainly made a huge difference having that buffer thru the energy cell.

I had mine sitting at around 70 world height, went into creative to test some set ups (including height and "wind farms") and to be honest, i cant see bugger all difference. The only time I did was when i placed 9 turbines as close to each other in a square. The middle one produced almost nothing, whilst the edge ones produced around the same as one on its own. So basically I still have no idea how to get more out of them, just i don't need to now to process my ore in a reasonable fashion :D

I thought world height made a difference, I was wrong. I did some testing myself and found no difference. The only things that effect your output is obstructions and whether you have a vertical or horizontal windmill.
