Did you make a link page with your ink mixer? That's step 1, then put a link page as the first page in the book binder, with whatever pages you want after.
Note that if you put the pages in a notebook in your writing desk, you can right-click to copy pages if the writing desk is also armed with ink and paper. I typically keep notebooks sorting page types in my desk and use the duplicates to make my new worlds.
Also, you don't have to make a descriptive book with anything but a link page. You'll get quite a bit of randomness and perhaps some undesirable effects, but if you don't have the pages that make finding more pages easier, this will give you a wider understanding of just how many variations this mod can give.
