Linux black screen

Hey guys I'm trying to get this to work but have had no luck so far I run the launcher (v1.1.3) and that works fine log into minecraft and launch the game, a window opens and the FTB logo flashes up and does it's thing then I get a window pop up saying "updating FML" after that's done all I get is a black screen, I left it a while (~15 minutes) just in case it was busy doing whatever it needed to do but still nothing.

Any ideas as to what I've done wrong?

Oh using Fedora 19 64 bit and java version "1.7.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b15)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)

if that helps
