I want to assign 8GB to it, but the launcher is only sowing a max of 1GB and game crashed with "Out of Memory" Error Message when I tried to start a new game. How do I fix it?

EDIT: Seems to be the .jar file that is borked. The .EXE works and lets me change the memory.

Where do I get the 64bit version as the button to download that only gives the 32bit version of FTB. I already have both 32 and 64bit versions of Java installed.

EDIT: I tried to use the parameters and Java crashed.

Uninstall all version of Java from the computer

Restart computer

Download the 64bit version of Java from their website and Install.

That should work then.

(You only should need the 64bit, not both. Both cause problems.)

OK, that did the trick, but I don't know if I'll run into problems later one with programs that need the 32bit version of Java.

Without the parameters, it works. When I try and use them, Java crashes.

EDIT: Putting the parameter directly into the Java Control Panel Applet.

OK, that worked, so there might be a problem with the way the launcher works with Java. Java didn't crash when I put the parameters in.

Thanks, man.

BTW: do you know anything about the server and how I can connect to a server running off my laptop while I play the game on my main?

I will make sure to note that on the Java Parameter page.

Nope... :) (I'm a geek, but I usually don't mess around with minecraft server stuff... I just hit connect and it works... :D)

You might try the server support section though.

Glad to be of help.

That's simple to do. Assuming you don't want other people on the server (which would be a lot more difficult), you just need to connect to the laptop's local IP address on the main computer when the server's running.

How do I find out he laptop's local IP?

Note: Don't include the quotes!

Step 1: Press Windows+R
Step 2: Type "cmd" in the box that appears and hit enter
Step 3: A black window should appear. Type "ipconfig" and hit enter
You should get an output similar to this:
Code:
Windows IP Configuration

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

  Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
  Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . :
  IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . :
  Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
  Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

  Media State . . . . . . . . . . . :
  Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
You may have more sections, you may have less. What you're looking for is the IPv4 Address in one of the sections. You might have more than one, but just try connecting to all the ones that appear. It should be one of them.

Thanks, man. That did it. Tested on the week-end with my nephew and it worked with almost no lag, just a little after 10 to 15 minutes play.

While running FTB Ultimate Server, my nephew can't connect. I've already port forwarded and everything. Running the server off my laptop and my client on my main.

Help would be nice.
