Launcher fails (down)loading modpacks

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Launcher fails (down)loading modpacks

Launcher Type FTB Launcher

Modpack All

Modpack version

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file http://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/9d6006ea

Details of the issue FTB just worked well yesterday, and as I wanted to play today and started the launcher, it took a long time before opening the window of the launcher, in wich there was no modpack displayed..

As it appeard to be a server host probleme, I wanted to change it (in advanced options), but the only two things that shown up on my download location option was "CurseCDN" or "Automatic".. so I did change it to CurseCDN.

And yet I restarted the launcher, it took a lot of time again before the console displayed an error message (see the log), and the launcher didn't even launched fully, it just got stuck on "opening main window"..

Thank you in advance,
Eriwem.

Edit : I don't have a good enough internet connexion now to be able to just delete all the files and re-download the launcher, and I won't have a good internet connexion before weeks :(

Looks like something is blocking, you got any antivirus software on that machine?

Also - (this has nothing to do with the connection error) - you should update your nvidia drivers, they are old - perhaps you have other stuff that you need to update as well on that machine - just a side note, worth checking out for you.

Well, as it worked properly yesterday, I haven't thought it could be the antivirus or anything, but I will try to disable it before launching (and I'll tell you the result).
Just another point : I tried to run it with administrator rights but it didn't make any difference..

Owh indeed, I knew my nvidia drivers were not up to date but I never took the time to update them, even if, as you say, that's worth checking out. When I will have the time I'll give it a look, as well as the rest of my (indeed old) computer !

Thanks for having took the time to answer me o/

Disable seldom works, you need to add exceptions for java + the game folder

I tried to run it with administrator rights but it didn't make any difference..
There's a big chance that you break stuff even more - rights to files and folders could be broken - but start with the above AV-stuff and if this has become a issue - we'll try and sort that out after the AV is fixed.

Wow, it worked !!

I disabled my antivirus software before running the launcher again, and after a few minutes loading, the launcher main window opened with everything at the right place, and the modpack loading as well when I tried to play :)

I don't have any problem with it or even in game, exept that the sound of the game now takes about 30 sec to 1 minute to be okay, before this time I don't hear any noise from the game or from the menu (I didn't have this issue before). That's no big deal since it works properly after a short time, but still, weird.. (you think it could be because I launched it with ad' rights ?)

Thank you a lot for the help, and I just wonder if I can get the sound back as it was before ^^"
