Mac Keep On crashing ~5 minutes into a session

Whenever I play for about 5 minutes, and I do something even slightly client intensive, I just crash. The screen freezes and then goes to a black background until it shows me the crash screen.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'd really appreciate it if anyone could at least tell me what the error means, so I can help diagnose my own problem.

Try lowering your memory settings; it may be that you are just running out of it.

Lowering it meaning that instead of 2gb, use something like 1gb? I don't think 1gb is enough to run the game smoothly, considering I have 8gb total.

I probably misread those settings in the log. It looks like Java only gets 2gb to play with, if you have 8gb you could try to give Java a little more.

I bumped it up to 4, same problem. It runs slightly faster, but it starts hanging for periods of about 3 seconds about a minute before it crashes

Is it always in the same area? The log mentions a lot of Item Frames.
