Hi.
I am planning to fix my computer, but I don't know if it can run fast with ftb, it might not actually run ftb. I fear that I might waste my money on fixing it. Anyway, here are the specifications of it:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2700.00Mhz
Motherboard: Msi n1996 k9AGM4
Fan: Stock
Power supply unit: HEC Rapter II 500
Graphics processing unit: Inno3d GTS 250 GDDR3 1GB

Thanks for the help :)

You are running windows on 1 GB of RAM? Are you not using the 64 bit version? because if you are running the 32 bit version adding more RAM won't help at all as you can't add enough usable RAM to your system to be able to play most modpacks.

Just googled the motherboard and came across this.

Main Memory

• Supports dual channel DDR2 533/667/800
- 2 DDR2 DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V)
- Supports a maximum memory size up to 4GB

In that case you need a lot more than just new RAM.
4GB is not enough for modded minecraft and slowly but surely becomes not enough in general thus you will need a new motherboard and if you get a new motherboard you probably need a new cpu and GPU unless you can find one that is compatible with the ones you have.

Its probably best to hold on until you can buy a whole new system.

That CPU is going to inhibit you severely in FTB. Anything heavier then FTB Lite will most likely bring it to it's knees.

4GB works fine if you have 64-bit Java. I can run almost any pack at 30-40 FPS in the overworld and 120+ FPS in skyblock maps. Superflat/other dimensions work great too.
